1863 $50 Fr. 150a United States Legal Tender Note RARE 1860’s REPRODUCTION

This is an extremely rare reproduction made in the 1860’s. Counter-stamped by a bank teller a long time ago. 150a notes are extreme rarities with only eight examples known, one of which is ensconced in the holdings of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. This is the Second Obligation back with the 1863 date and both the American Bank Note Company and National Bank Note Company names at the top of the note above Hamilton’s portrait. Similarly, there are only a few known contemporary 1860’s reproductions. For repro-collectors, this is’King of the Hill’. IDENTIFICATIONAuthentic notes have octagon-enclosed’50’s bordering the reverse with few to no overlaps. This note has no obvious octagonal enclosures and has two clear overlaps at bottom left and bottom right. It is our belief that this puts this note in the category of an 1860’s reproduction.
